Essure is a gentle, hormone-free permanent FEMALE birth control procedure. There is no surgery involved. It is non-reversible, and 99.74% effective, making it the most effective form of permanent birth control available. The procedure only takes ten minutes, during which patients rarely experience pain, and are typically able to go home within 45 minutes.
If you do not want to have additional children, Essure is right for you - you will never have to worry about unplanned pregnancy again.
If you decide that Essure is right for you, you must first have a standard PAP and STD screening, after which there is a 30 day waiting period, so that you and your doctor can make the most well-informed medical decision possible. When it is time to have the procedure, the doctor will place hormone-free micro-inserts into each of your fallopian tubes. Over a three month period, your body will naturally fill in the tissue around the inserts, which will permanently block your tubes.
